Overwhelmed by Blessings (and Missing Hinge Stops)

I’m sitting on a jobsite this morning…still & quiet, lists running through my head, replaying this past week.

And if I’m being honest?

It’s been a lot.

Custom homes are made up of a million tiny decisions—and somehow this week, I managed to miss a few of them.

Toilet paper holders that weren’t ordered. Hinge stops that turned into rush shipping. Billing that got off track because I was in the field trying to keep everything moving. I focused all my time on getting to the finish line with 3 houses that are closing, neglecting 2 current projects and 2 upcoming. I didn't do it because I don't care... I did it because those 3 needed me more...I am just spread so thin these days.

Hard when you let people down or make them feel unimportant... doubly hard when they point it out. Nothing catastrophic… but enough to sit here and think, “Dang, Ashley… you dropped the ball.”

And if you know me, you know—I don’t take that lightly.

The Part No One Talks About

I’m a “push through it” kind of person.

The kind that says:

  • Keep going

  • Figure it out

  • Don’t stop

  • Don’t fail

But what I’m learning lately is this:

You can push so hard that you forget you were never meant to carry it all alone.

This Is More Than I Ever Prayed For

And here’s the part that hit me this morning…

This life? This business? These homes? This responsibility?

It’s more than I ever prayed for.

And isn’t it wild how quickly we can turn answered prayers into stress?

A Different Perspective

Instead of sitting here beating myself up, I felt this shift in my spirit:

What if this isn’t failure…

What if this is abundance?

What if this overwhelming feeling isn’t because I’m doing a bad job—

but because God trusted me with something bigger than I can manage on my own?

The Truth I’m Holding Onto

I may:

  • Miss things

  • Drop details

  • Let people down sometimes

But that is not who I am.

The Bible says something different about me.

I am:

  • Chosen

  • Covered in grace

  • Being refined, not rejected

  • Called to be faithful—not perfect

And that changes everything.

Stress Isn’t My Assignment

I caught myself this morning thinking, "I don’t want to live stressed.”

Because that’s not from God.

Peace is.

Now—does that mean everything will always feel calm and put together?

Absolutely not.

But it does mean I don’t have to carry pressure, guilt, and shame while I figure it out.

Giving God Credit… and Myself Grace

This might be the biggest lesson of all.

I want to:

  • Thank God for the blessings

  • Give Him credit for the growth

  • Trust His plan over mine

But also?

I’m learning to give myself grace.

To say: "I’m not perfect. I’m learning. I’m growing. And I’m still showing up.”

For the Woman Who Feels Like She Dropped the Ball This Week

Maybe you didn’t miss hinge stops…but you missed something.

Maybe you feel behind. Maybe you feel like you let someone down. Maybe you’re carrying that quiet guilt.

Let me remind you:

You are not disqualified by your misses.

You are being shaped by them.

What I’m Choosing Today

I’m choosing to wake up, thank God for:

  • The good

  • The hard

  • The in-between

Because He works in all of it.

I’m choosing to keep going. To keep building. To keep trusting.

And to remember—

I’m not doing this alone.

The Good News

I know that I have been missing things, fumbling the ball and not performing to my highest level. It does not matter the reasoning, and the effort only matters to the world when they see the results. This is how I measure success and so does everyone else. You do not actually get an "A for effort"... that is a myth. So, I am thankful that God already knew I was going to push too far and need someone because he already placed her on my team. The good news is that Candace is going to be instrumental in helping me carry this load. I am really thankful for the hard lessons... easy stuff never really strips you down, humbles you or changes you. Hard stuff can either make you defensive or sharpen your tools. I am praying that it makes me better.

Final Thought

Maybe being “Built Different” doesn’t mean having it all together.

Maybe it means standing in the middle of the mess…with peace anyway. Maybe it means learning something about yourself, seeing a fail and making it a victory by committing to correct.

Unapologetically imperfect. Fully covered in grace. Still building.
